St. Louis Region, Sports Car Club of America

Gets Ready for the 2010 Season with a “Tech-O-Rama”

St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis Region of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) will host their first Tech-O-Rama on Saturday, March 20 at Lynch Hummer/Adventure Shooting Sports, 17371 North Outer 40 in Chesterfield. This event is, in part, a Community Sports Car Festival; whether attending for the social environment, a specific bit of knowledge or hoping to walk away with a prize and a hot dog, there is truly something for everyone.

"The 'Tech-O-Rama idea started as an opportunity to have technical inspections available for all SCCA activities in one convenient location", said Jim Lynch, a SCCA Club Racing participant and whose dealership is hosting the event. "Then some members of the St. Louis Region Sports Car Club came up with a thought...."while we have all these cool cars and like-minded people in one place, why not turn it into something special?'. The 'Tech-o-Rama has since grown into an event for every car lover, from those interested in learning how to shave the last tenths from their lap time to those that just want to see some exciting cars up close."

Representatives from the St. Louis Region, SCCA Club Racing, Performance Rally, PDX (precision driving experience), Rallycross, Road Rally and Solo (autocross) programs will be on hand to answer questions. SCCA cars, drivers and crew members, as well as in-car videos, will be available to help everyone get acquainted with sports car racing.

Also included will be the activity program sponsors for St. Louis Region; Adventure Performance of St. Louis, Dad’s Auto Repair, Izzy’s Custom Cages, LKQ Corporation, Lynch Hummer, McDonough – Whitlow, P.C., Photomotion, Solo Performance Specialties, Spazio’s, and Takata.

Co-Chairs for this event, Dave Jones and Julia Briggen, have rounded up an impressive automotive performance lineup to answer questions for novice and experienced drivers alike. There will be presentations and displays from the Hoosier Tire Company (answering questions about competition tires), Cobalt Brakes (providing information about performance brakes, compounds, and    applications), ANZE Engineering (suspension and shock absorbers), MBJ Machine (performance engine building), Rolling Hills Resort/Race Facility (a proposed multi-purpose race facility in Jefferson County), and Race Technology (data acquisition).

According to Jones, "The area sports car community was ready for an open-arms event where we can share our common interests. The stars aligned with a fantastic location, a wide variety of supporters providing products and education, and a group of organizers who don't know the meaning of the word "can't"!"

Local car clubs from Audi, BMW, Corvette, Honda/Acura, Lotus, Mini, Porsche, Viper, and VW, plus the St. Louis Auto Racing Fan Club and the St. Louis Drifting Club will be on hand to provide information as well.

One full set of competition tires from Hoosier Tire Midwest and ten full sets of competition brake pads from Cobalt Friction Technologies will be raffled. There will be additional drawings, including free dyno runs, pace car ride-alongs during the road races March 27 – 28 at Gateway International Raceway, PDX ride-alongs, and free Solo event entries. Proceeds from the 50/50 drawing will benefit The Backstoppers, an organization who supports the families of fallen police officers and firefighters.

This event is free and open to all car enthusiasts. Additional information is available, along with a complete 2010 calendar of St. Louis Region, SCCA events, by visiting www.stlscca.org.
